Sunday

I Had So Much Fun This Weekend!

Hey Hannah, Zac, Garrett, Mommy, Daddy and Everyone!

Guess what I did this weekend!

People come from all over the United States to ride bikes in the Hollister hills.

This nice boy and his father let me ride on his bike. It was awesome!

Just up the road from the Hollister Hills track is this old school.
All children, first grade through twelfth grade, used to go to this little school house. That is like having elementary school, junior high school and high school in the same little building with the same teacher. I think this would have been a fun school!
Less than a mile from the old school house are the many vineyards and wineries in San Benito County. All of these vineyards have been growing grapes since the mid 1800's. Some of the oldest grapevines in California come from this area.
Here is one of the wineries in Hollister:

This winery also makes olive oil from their vineyard. They have many olive trees in the hills.

This nice lady loved meeting me!

People come from all over the world to go wine tasting in this area. I signed the guest book!

The San Andreas fault runs through Hollister. There are earthquakes almost every day in this area of California. Most of the time, we can't feel the tremors and so far, I haven't felt a big earthquake but here is a picture of me and the San Andreas fault. That big crack in the ground is the fault!

This is a picture of me and a historical national landmark on the San Andreas fault at a winery in Hollister:
You can see how the building has separated because of all of the earthquakes and if you want to read the landmark sign better, you can click on the picture, it is really interesting.
Wine barrels are stacked on top of each other in really tall buildings to help with space. Sometimes, the wine has to sit in barrels for years before it gets bottled. Believe it or not, the wine barrels don't topple over in mild earthquakes. It would take a very big earthquake to make these barrels fall to the ground.
It is harvest season and that means that any day now, these grapes will be picked (harvested).
I can't even describe how beautiful the vineyards and the grapes were today. I have learned so much!
This is a picture of me with Aunt June and Mrs. Jane's favorite wine. Mr. Michael wanted to make sure that I got this picture for them.
This winery also got this Guinness Book Of World Records placard many years ago for being the world's largest wine cellar under one roof.

Because I am flat and I can fit in Mrs. Juli's purse, I was able to see so many things!
I hope you had a nice weekend!

Love,

Flat Stanley

Dear Flat Stanley,

Thank you for visiting my blog and surprising us with a note from you! I left you a reply there, too.

O, this was interesting to learn in your blog:
"South Carolina is called the 'Palmetto State' because of the palmetto trees"

Love,
Lydia & Mike and all the pets:
Dogs--Bonbon, Abby, Cats--Feather, Shiva Lullaby, Pyewacket, Pilgrim, Bootsie, and Onyx

(It sure looks like you're having a wonderful time in beautiful California!)

Dear Flat Stanley,

You sure are learning a lot about things you don't see in South Carolina. I am glad you are learning so much. I am also very, very glad Michael got rid of those funny things on your teeth. I really like your natural smile better! June

Hey, Flat Stanley, what a busy weekend and an interesting one at that. I would love to see them harvest the grapes for wine making. The earthquake fault is very interesting - don't fall in that big ditch!!! I must say you look a lot better without the grillz - the platinum tooth sure shows up in the pictures.
Have a good day and a good week.
Mrs. Jane

Dear Flat Stanley,

This is one of the coolest blogs I've ever seen. You look like you had a good time over the weekend, and I intend to visit this blog often.

Hi Stanley! Your weekend was very interesting. I'm glad you were able to fit in Mrs. Juli's pocketbook so we could see all those cool things--I could not have done that. My favorite thing you did was seeing the San Andreas Fault. That was cool. I did not know little earthquakes could happen every day. Stay away from those holes!

Our friend Logan has a dirtbike. Zac tries to keep up with him on the 4 wheeler but the bike is much faster.

I enjoyed the pictures from the winery. It was awesome.

Glad you had some good adventures over the weekend. Continue to having fun!!
Love, Hannah

Hey Stanley! I had some fun adventures this weekend also. I practiced driving the tractor with Grandaddy, took a dip in the freezing pool and then was pooped on by a cow!!! We were feeding apples to the cows and I guess Garrett and I got a little too close!!

Your adventures were awesome. I can not believe that many children could fit in that tiny building. My first grade class could not fit in there. That dirt bike trail looks cool. Maybe one day I will be able to talk Mommy and Daddy into a dirt bike!

Oh, by the way, I like the tooth!!

You sure are a busy!! Good thing Mrs. Juli and Mr. Michael can keep up with you. I think I am going to mail a Flat Mommy to Mrs. Juli.

The winery was really cool. I think that was my favorite adventure. The boys were really checking out the dirt bike track.

Have you talked Aunt June into coming to Mrs. Juli's house with Mrs. Jane so you can go skydiving?

Hannah is enjoying your adventures and learning so much about California. She was really interested in the earthquakes. Please tell Mrs. Juli "thank you" for taking you on such great adventures. She has always been so sweet to Hannah!
Be good, Mommy

Hey Everyone! Mrs. Lydia and Arny, it was so nice of you to come by and say "hello".

Mrs. Jane, I can't wait to meet you in a couple of weeks! I wish Aunt June could come on the plane with you.

Zac! I can't believe you got pooped on by a cow! Did Garrett get pooped on? Y'all were way too close it sounds like to me.

Mommy, I wish you could become a flat mommmy as well.

Hannah, there is so much to see here and Mrs. Juli said that I will see the earthquake fault many more times before I come back home.

Today, Mrs. Juli is getting five paintings together for the fair and we have to be there at 4:00 this afternoon. I'll write more about it when we get back, but it might be 8:00 your time or later so you may be in bed before I get to tell you all about it. I can't wait until you see Mrs. Juli's paintings!

I hope you're having a good day.

Love,

Flat Stanley
